#6 RGL Spring Season in TF2 General Discussion
Solstrom
What does the workload of a 6s staff consist of? Just generally curious

Primarily it's monitoring tickets and answering them, checking transactions and approving or denying (or restricting when needed), checking matches to ensure everything is proper (logs, players paid up, ringers declared, etc), managing playoffs and interacting with Team Leaders on whatever support they need throughout the season.
At beginning of the season, they have to review and place teams, including issuing restrictions.

#22 Default scrim and match times in TF2 General Discussion

For those of you clamoring for earlier times, this Spring we’re offering 930PM match times (EST) for higher level players as a test case while keeping a 1030 option for those who prefer it.

If you are a proponent of those earlier times, this is your chance to show it and help prove it can be viable.

#3 RGL Spring Season in TF2 General Discussion

Thanks for posting this, traveling for work so I wouldn’t have been able to for a couple more days.

I’ve gotten some good questions and solid feedback already from players both enthusiastic and less so. I urge players to fill out the post season surveys and feel free to message me if you want to chat about how RGL can be better for players/the long run.

Lastly - I can’t emphasize enough that the Sixes staff has some really great and hardworking people, but we are shorthanded and that makes it tough to put on events and service the community as much as we’d all like. If you have the interest and time to help, please consider applying for staff. Especially if you’re a longtime player and/or supporter of competitive TF2 in North America.

#3 Version 2 of DemoMan, the TF2 Demo Manager, is now in Projects

This is really an amazing tool that can be incredibly useful.

Big props to the devs for making this.

You can still pick up dropped mediguns and preserve some of their uber.
The change is to mediguns that had the charge activated - the charge now drains much faster as per the next change in the log, and the charge is not cancelled by being dropped.

So, you can still pick up the enemy medigun and have that advantage, you just can't drop yours during your uber and preserve it - ie use, drop the gun, pick up theirs and repick up yours and preserve most of your charge as seen in
this video.

#4 TF2 is 18 years old today in TF2 General Discussion

I pre-ordered the Orange Box so was able to play in Beta in September 2007. I was 30 years old then, about to get married, two years before my daughter was even born.

I was vaguely aware there was a competitive scene for TF2 but it didn't exist as far as I was concerned. Found a community server pretty quickly and had a lot of fun there playing with a big group of regulars for a long while - seeding servers and playing custom maps - spent way way too much time on 24/7 Warpath2.

The way the game was then definitely holds an outsized spot in my head canon. I still think of every unlock or gameplay change as "new tech" - as in airblast seems like it was added after 5 years instead of 10 months. I remember people getting their first hat drops in the game and making big deals about them the way people would today about getting a top tier unsual effect all-class hat. It was months before I got my first one - a Vintage Tyrolean I still have.

I still find the game a lot of fun to play, though I finally realized I can't keep committing the time to play seasons anymore (and am ~6 years into knowing I'll ever be able to be good at the game) - still love it and appreciate the many interesting folks I've met playing it over the years.

#9 RGL Sixes Season 19 Announcements and Updates in TF2 General Discussion

Repeating the announcement made earlier this evening on the RGL Discord - we have decided to delay the Invite and Advanced seasons by one more week to allow some teams to finalize rosters. During this time, we are open to any additonal teams that want to form for either of these divisions (not Main or below). If you might have a team to form or revive a previously dead/inactive Advanced or Invite team - please reach out to Tristen, a.t. or myself right away.

This extension also moves the deadlines for having 5 paid roster players to Saturday, Sept. 20. The Invite poll deadline has also been extended to midnight EDT Thursday, Sept. 18.

#8 RGL Sixes Season 19 Announcements and Updates in TF2 General Discussion
siyoplinko being the head admin of 6s is a great change. plinko truly cares about the scene and i think many will come to appreciate him in the head admin role and he's one of the more reasonable and community facing admins from that of the past. Excited to see what comes next

I appreciate the kind words and support and I am going to do my best to live up to the spirit of them.

That said, I think it's important to say that I owe Kitty a tremendous debt of gratitude for all the hard work she has put in the past two years leading the Sixes team and building it up from a rough patch.
To the extent you are seeing some positive things today, from the recent LANs to some of the progress I hope you will see in our transparency and communications, it could only happen because Kitty did a lot of work to have us ready and able to move forward with these initiatives.

#7 RGL Sixes Season 19 Announcements and Updates in TF2 General Discussion

Season 19 Map Pool, Player Restrictions and Survey Results

Again, not gonna rehash everything in here, but the general map pool (Newcomer -Main) is announced in the article:

Week 1: cp_sunshine
Week 2: cp_granary_pro_rc17a3
Week 3: koth_bagel_rc11
Week 4: cp_reckoner
Week 5: cp_metalworks_f7
Week 6: koth_clearcut_b18
Week 7: cp_gullywash_f9
Week 8: cp_process_f12

Yes, we've heard growing complaints about Snakewater from the community and so giving it a break this season. There are a number of promising maps in development, but we don't feel any are quite ready to add to the general map pool just yet. We are very optimistic one or more might be ready for Season 20.

There is a lot more in the article, please read through. I am really excited for this upcoming season!

segamwVery informative article. Is there a way to check the results of last seasons survey ?

Meaning the Season survey 17 results or were we not clear we're working on an article to share the Season 18 survey results?

#1 RGL Sixes Season 19 Announcements and Updates in TF2 General Discussion

Registration for Season 19 of RGL Sixes is here and open now!
Full Announcement Article here

Importantly, team Registration closes Sept. 7th and teams must have the minimum players rostered/paid (>5) by Sept. 13.
Teams interested in registering for Invite or playing in Invite Qualifiers (if needed) should reach out to me or a.t. when registering.
The map pool and order are still under discussion and will also be released next week.

I won't rehash the entire article here, but as many have anticipated, the loch n' load will be removed from the RGL Sixes Whitelist for Season 19.
Please look out for more on weapon bans and other survey results from Season 18 in an upcoming article on the RGL site soon.

#11 Data Scientist Requesting Help Building Dashboard in Projects

I am pretty sure forty-bot has a methodology for trends.tf to correlate match logs from logs.tf to RGL matches by correlating the players in the log and its time stamp to match pages (something like a log posted with at least 3 rostered players from each team uploaded within a few hours of the posted match time).
